We host a wide variety of community activities and events and
provide our people with an affordable space to meet, learn, relax, keep a fit mind and body,
get support, do business, host an event and hire mobility equipment.

General Election Thursday 1 October (note change of date)
Wellington Central Candidates Meeting
This year’s General Election in September will have a lot of interest in more ways than one, coming out of Covid 19 and moving into economic recovery, and the referendum issues we will be asked to vote on.
The Rotary Club of Karori and the Karori Association are jointly organising a candidate’s public meeting in the Wellington Central seat at the Karori Baptist Church (note change of venue) Thursday 1 October, at 7pm.
This is about a week before ballot papers are posted out for the Elections.

As an endeavour to put questions to candidates that are of interest to a range of people we invite those planning to attend to submit questions in advance.
Having 9 speakers we have limited time for questions so in this way we can focus on issues that have a degree of support.
We will bring like questions together but the Chair retains the right not to invite a question to be put if there is little support of a like nature; also, if time becomes limited.
The chair will decide if questions will be put to one or more candidates.

Karori Community Centre is looking for three new people
to join our Management Committee:
* Secretary of Management Committee
* Treasurer and
* A Committee Member
The Community Centre is at the heart of the town centre in Karori. We are situated behind the Mobil Station and provide spaces for community groups and small businesses to meet.
Over 1000 people come to events at the Community Centre each week.
The Community Centre employs three part time staff to operate the Centre.
Early next year, the Karori Event Centre will be opened.
The staff at the Community Centre will manage this community venue.
The Community Centre runs the Karori Youth Centre and we host St John’s Op Shop,
Karori Foodbank, Wellington West Citizens’ Advice Bureau, and the Toy Library.
We are an incorporated society and are recognised as a charity by the Charities Commission. Our Management Committee meets monthly.
Our current secretary has just moved into paid employment, she will step down as secretary, but is staying as part of the Management Committee.
The treasurer is ably supported by staff.
